First Flight to Belize

Many people already know that Charles Lindbergh landed the first airplane, ( The Spirit of St. Louis), in Belize on December 1927 at Stanley Field, (Now the Phillip S. W. Goldson International Airport.

But did you know that the Mercury spacecraft was conceived, invented and designed by a Belizean-born American Scientist/Mechanical Engineer named Maxime Faget (pronounced Fahzhay)?


Dr. Maxim Faget, who was responsible for the Mercury spacecraft, was born in Dangriga, Stann Creek district on August 26, 1921
